About Me
Hi, I’m Alana Rock (she/her).
I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can exhale. In session you are allowed to laugh, cry, move, reflect, and discover yourself with gentle curiosity.
I’ve spent my career weaving together psychotherapy and creative arts therapies to support people in their most important roles and in times of transition. Alongside my private practice, I teach and supervise graduate interns at Sarah Lawrence College, helping to train the next generation of dance/movement therapists.
My background includes:
Family therapy and dance/movement therapy with children and parents
School-based therapy with elementary and middle school students
Outpatient mental health work with both neurotypical and neurodiverse children
Postgraduate training in Child and Family Therapy (NYU)
Certification from the LGBTQ Institute for Family Therapy
Additional training in Perinatal Mental Health, with a focus on pregnancy, postpartum, and birth trauma
I am especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and families. Whether you’re navigating identity, community, or parenthood, I hope to offer a space that celebrates who you are and welcomes all the layers of your story.
I’m committed to helping people feel more grounded, connected, and cared for as they move through the joys and challenges of becoming and being themselves.
On a personal note, I am a parent of a vivacious preschooler, have two cats, love to canoe and camp, and live in Brooklyn. I’m part of the LGBTQ+ community.
